# Licensing

A license determines how many agents can collect data and which features (for example OpenTelemetry or AI Assistant) are listed. Without a license the environment still runs, with collection limited.

Upload and allocate licenses from the Workstation. See [Managing a License](/7/administrator-guide/licensing/managing-a-license.md). Updating a license requires the corresponding permission.
